Kaisa Kautto-Koivula is in and excited

Here is a broader introduction of Kaisa and a few words from herself considering the topic at hand.

Kaisa Kautto-Koivula is leading Mind Gardenia Ltd, a consulting company focusing to understand Future and the ongoing Paradigm Shift. Before establishing (in 2004) her company, Kaisa acted over 15 years in various managerial positions in Nokia Corporation. Her latest responsibility was the Foresight and the Development of Future Strategic Business Concepts and Innovations. Kaisa has advised many high-level private and public organizations on Foresight issues. Kaisa holds Ph.D (Adult Education) and Licenciate (Information Technology). She acts also as part-time Adjunct Professor at Tampere (Future Learning Environments) and Jyväskylä Universities ( Future Human-Centric Society), in Finland.

Kaisa is a co-author of the book "From Hired man to Master: Free from the Leash of the Quartal Economy" (published 2006, only in Finnish). In this book is analysed the spirit of current time and its driving forces from various viewpoints (economy, society, organizations, individuals). In the book is also evaluated the depth of the ongoing transition and created proposals for future visions and their development paths. The spirit of current time shows that many individuals feel like being “a slave in the game of masters”. The expectations for increasing growth and competitiveness have become the highest goal of everything. In Quartal Economy sustainable long term development and wellbeing of employees have been too often sacrificed under the pressure for achieving better short term results. These short-sighted leadership values have changed the life of many employees to pure hectic performance with serious consequences: burnout, suffer of families, divorces and value contradictions.  At the same time the future scenarios of advanced organizations describe the rise of the economy that is based on immaterial products and innovativeness requiring the wellbeing of human beings! This is a growing contradiction. It looks like the means and goals have been mixed up both in economy and society.

Kaisa argues that we are now facing the deepest transition phase in the history for over a hundred years. In addition to serious economy regression (or even depression) many parallel global crises – climate, energy, food, water, pandemic etc. - are driving the transition deeper. Who understands today the nature of this transition? There are high-level experts who argue that this transition can be as big as shifting from agricultural to industrial epoch, the process occurred 400 years ago! We can be sure this transition will change deeply all sectors: economy, societies, organisations and our daily life. We are heading towards a creative economy where success is based on creativity, immaterial innovations, the power and agility of (virtual) human networks and nanocorporations. All this requires something which we lack today; trust and humanity. Kaisa believes that rational thinking related to the industrial paradigm (factories; material; big hierarchical organizations; people and nature as objects) will not anymore guarantee success. Management & leaderships principles created by Taylor do not work any more. We need totally new way of thinking to understand the premises of this huge paradigm shift. Future will be more based on irrational thinking, innovativeness, emotions, intuition, ethics, aesthetics, values and understanding the black holes of human inner “universe”. 

Kaisa believes that future is created today by brave visionary forerunners: who are ready to break down their existing thinking boxes. Who have systemic thinking to understand the Big Picture of this paradigm shift? The required structural renewal of economies, work, societies and daily life will be based on new deep personal values, visions, premises and trust.  Kaisa believes strongly that in the new paradigm people and nature are valued as subjects. They will be put in center of economy and society. And the critical tool to get this shift process successful will be the new Trails for Leadership and Management.
